And so the saga ends!

And so the saga ends!

Lectura placuta!

In our modern society, there are lots of things that I can’t give up because these particular things are part of my life.

To begin with, I can’t give up my MP3 player. It makes me forget about bad things. For example, when I’m having a bad day, I’m bored or annoyed by my brother, I listen to good music on the MP3 player.

Secondly, I can’t give up the Internet. The Internet is a part of every teenager’s life. Every teen uses it to chat with friends, watch the latest videoclips and gossip and they also use it in order to do their homework. That’s exactly what I do. I enjoy spending time surfing the net.

Finally, I can’t give up my computer. Everyone know why – because everyone has one. On a computer you can scan photos, download music and, of course, you can play the best videogames in the world! On the other hand, you can also get viruses, so that can be a downer.

To sum up, I can’t give up my computer, my MP3 player and the Internet, because they are important parts of my life.

Radu Fratisteanu, S4B

Why can’t I give up on money, family or school? Because I love them!

Firstly, if you don’t have money, you can’t afford things you like doing. Even though some people claim money can’t bring happiness, they help you lead a confortable life and forget about your everyday spendings. It’s hard to deny that nowadays you can be completely satisfied without money.

The things that I enjoy (travelling, shopping or spending time in different places) wouldn’t be possible without money and, because of that, money is something that I couldn’t give up.

Family is the most important thing in a person’s life. The atmosphere in your family helps you develop your personality and interactions with other people. I’m happy that my family support me through all my activities and all the other things I want to do. Furthermore, they provide me with financial support in order to make it through all these activities.

Another thing that I can’t give up on is school. First of all, it’s because I can’t afford stopping my education and I think that school is the main thing in creating our personality. Secondly, school is where I met all my friends whom I like spending time with. They are like a second family to me and it would be really hard for me to lose them.

To sum up, I would say that these three thins are part of my life and that without them I wouldn’t be the person I am now.

Giving up is hard to do

Giving up is hard to do

During your whole life, you meet people who, with time, become very important to you and you realise you can’t live without them. They are your family, your friends, your girlfriend or boyfriend, your pets or other things such as your childhood teddy bear, your mobile phone or some other personal things.

I’m one of those people that can’t leave without people. I don’t care if you take my toys, my phone or other boring objects.

In the first place, there is my family. I really can’t imagine my life without my parents, my sister, my brother, Fabrice or my grandparents. They mean everything to me. We are a happy family and since I was born, I’ve been a very happy kid. They offered all their affection to me and gave me everything I ever wanted. Through this, I would like to say a sincere “Thank you!” to them.

In the second place, there are my friends. How would I have lived if Diana, Edi, Robi, Eugen, Andra, Oana or Cristina hadn’t existed? They are like my family – my second family. They never left me when I had problems and started crying, as they never left me when I was happy and laughed. I know that childhood friendships don’t last a long time, but I feel that they will be mine forever. I really apreciate them because they are here for me.

And here comes third place, but this doesn’t mean that I care less about her. As you may have guessed, I don’t want to lose my cat, Trixi. Even though I’ve had her since December, she’s as important as my family or friends. She has run away twice, but she came back every time. In those moments, I realised how important she is to me.

The coundown can continue, but I told you about the most important things in my life. If I’d in the situation to choose between my life or theirs, I would choose theirs.

Remember, party people! I’ll never give you up!

Impresii dupa examenul First Certificate in English

Impresii dupa examenul First Certificate in English

Iulia ne-a impartasit cateva impresii post-examen:

Cum se simte stiind ca a absolvit cu un nivel peste cel prevazut de Ministerul Educatiei la o varsta atat de mica:

Even though I am younger that the average age for the FCE exam, I received a lot of encouragement from my parents, friends and my teacher from Follow Me to make it. This gave me self confidence and, because of them, I felt completely ready to take the exam.

At the age of almost fourteen, being with one level above the one requiered by the Ministry of Education of highschool graduates makes me feel proud of myself and thankful to my parents, who contributed a lot in my way to acheive this.

Cum a ajutat-o Follow Me sa treaca acest examen:

Because of Follow Me, I passed the FCE exam. Before I came here, I didn’t know English, but after seven years of coming here, I almost have perfect English.

I started from J1, the smallest grade, but in several years of being well prepared, I passed the FCE exam at the age of 14 years old. The average age for the FCE exam is 16-18, but thanks to Follow Me, I was able to take it earlier and pass it with success!

In ultimele zile am primit o serie de eseuri de-a dreptul impresionante. Restul isi vor gasi loc pe blog si in saptamanile urmatoare.

Hmmm…there is a long list with things that I love, but there are three things that I can’t give up.

1. Music:)

I love listening to music. When I turn it on, I am relaxed… I must say that I don’t like all kinds of music, some of them are awful. I’m talking about bands like Inna or Justin Bieber…or Miley Cyrus. Who are those people and why do they hate us?!

I like bands like Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Joffree Star, Blood on the dance floor, Black veil brides and many more.

2. Using my imagination:)

Ha ha! I like drawing, writing and many other things. When I draw, for example, my imagination and my pen get crazy. I just can’t stop it.

3. Technology:)

Well, I’m not proud of that, but I must say that it’s hard for me to live without technology. I’m not the kind of girl that likes going camping. I like watching TV, using the Internet to find what out what’s new. And, by the way, I must say that I need my phone…it is very important for me, not only for the contacts, but because I have a lot of music, songs that I like stored on it and like I said at number 1, I love listening to music in order to be relaxed.

Well, I think that’s all about the three things that I can’t give up. Now I just realised, by thinking about three things that I can give up, that that is a harder subject – at least for myself.

Georgiana Lapusneanu S4A

Why can’t I give you up?

I know it’s a typical answer, but I hope I can make my composition interesting with my reasons.

I can’t give up on my mom. She’s my everything. I cannot live without her. I know that we don’t have a very connected relationship and that I don’t tell her everything, but that’s not because I don’t want to. It’s because I can’t. I’m afraid. I don’t know ehy, but sometimes I’m afraid to tell her how I am feeling and what I am feeling. I’m afraid that she will judge me like everyone else and in that moment I don’t realise that she is my mother and she will love me anyway.

Another reason why I can’t give up on her is because she understands me. When I do something unusual or I wear something strange, she just gives me a hug and smiles. I respect her because she’s patient and innocent and she can accept anything my dad and I do. She won’t turn her back if we dissapoint her. She just smiles, closes her eyes and cries, so no one can see her. We have problems with money and other things, but she stands strong and keeps holding on and pushing.

I don’t know if I love her for being my perfect mom or for being a strong woman, but I am sure about one thing. I cannot give up on her…

I couldn’t give up on my family, my dreams and my future for anything in the world! I love you mom for what you are!

Vacante nereusite

Vacante nereusite

Dear Steve,

I’m in Greece, but I wish I wasn’t. It’s been raining since yesterday, so the plane was delayed and we had to take the coach. The hotel is horrible. The room is cold and damp and I got food poisoning from lunch. I also lost my phone on the beach, which is rocky, not sandy.

I’ve been at a police station, but they told me they had more important things to do. It’s unusual for me to complain or moan, but I want to go home soon.

It’s time to go down for dinner. Let’s hope it’s better than lunch.

See you soon,

Frati (Radu Fratisteanu)

Dear Amy,

I’m in England, but I wish I wasn’t. This hotel is awful and the food is too expensive. I’m very bored and we can’t go out because it’s very hot. Although, I made some new friends here and they said we could stay at their home for our holiday. We want to go to France next week, but we’re not sure.

I hope tomorrow will be better. I can’t wait to see you again!

Love,

Miruna (Miruna Mantu)

Dear Samantha,

I’m in Greece right now, but I wish I wasn’t. It’s Friday and we’ve been here since Tuesday and, trust me, it is awful. We arrived here and we arrived by plane and the airline lost our luggage. The food is terrible and the hotel is huge and it is very hot in here. It’s two kilometres to the beach. I hate that it is rocky, not sandy. I hope to come back soon.

I love you,

Berry (Rebecca Marmeliuc)

Dear Cristina,

I’ve been in Egypt four days now and I’m having a terrible time. I wish you were here. My holiday started very badly – when I got out of the plane, I had the surprise that the airline had lost my luggage. It was good, because after six hours they found it. I was really nervous because in my luggage I had a big part of my money and all my clothes. I arrived at the hotel and there weren’t any rooms left. They had given my room to someone else. I decided to go to another hotel. There, the room was very comfortable, but the wiew from the window was terrible. The worst thing here is that the beach is four kilometres from here and the pyramids are six kilometres away.

In fact, they were the main reason we came here. It’s no use complaining now because tomorrow I’m leaving, though. It’s time to take the cab to the beach now. Let’s hope I won’t pay as much as I payed for the last taxi.

See you soon when I return home,

Love,

Magda (Magda Petcu)

Theatre review by Irina Balaci

Theatre review by Irina Balaci

One of the best plays I’ve seen is “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. It is a drama about hatred between families and a magical love that has to fight in order to become possible.

The story is set in England, around 1700. The plot revolves around two rich families. Montague and Capulet which couldn’t stand eacheother because of political problems. Juliet was a Capulet and Romeo was a Montague but, despite their families’ problems, they fell in love. They had to fight until the end for this love and, in the end, they died for it.

The main characters are Romeo and Juliet. The two youngsters can’t be happy together because of their families. They are very strong and powerful, they argue with their relatives to protect their feelings for eachother and, in the end, they realise that the only way to be together is to die. After that, nobody can tell them how to feel.

What I liked very much in this play were the costumes: the women wore long dresses and the men trousers, shirts and waistcoats. These were the traditional outfits at that period.

To sum up, I would throughly recommend this play to anyone who wants romance, drama and action in the same place, to anyone who wants to discover what true love can do and how much a person can fight for love or to anyone who wants to be challenged and made to think about hatered and love.

Felicitari, Irina!

Valentine’s Day la Follow Me

Valentine’s Day la Follow Me

Valentine, do you know how hard it is for

A lonely girl to start to love again after a

Lonely, long period of unhappiness and dissapointment?

Enough, she thought, so she started to love again.

Never has she felt so alive and she said

To you: “I love you, Valentine! You made my heart beat again!

I want to ask for a last wish: Don’t leave me!

Never, because one failed relationship is enough for me.

Enough, did you hear me? Too much!

Say it, Valentine, promise me! We’ll be together forever!

Day after day, year after year. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry

And , most importantly, we’ll spend these days together.

Yesterday, today, tomorrow,…will be the same for us!”

“Love is better than wisdom” means we make better decisions with our heart than with our mind. When we are in love, we can be more gentle with the people around us. “

Mihai Filip, S4A

I agree that love is better than wisdom, because too much wisdom can make people hate you because nobody likes a “Mister Know It All” and then, love lasts until divorce.

Alexandru Laszlo, S4A

I agree that love is better than wisdom. Firstly, love is a feeling that every person has met at least once in his/her life. Of course, this feeling is very important because it helps you know that people care about you.

On the other hand, wisdom is the ability to give advice and, for example, help people feel better. So wisdom is an ability which you develop in your life. That’s why I’d rather choose love over wisdom.

Catalin Balaci, S4A

Love is better than wisdom because love lasts all our life, whereas wisdom occurs when we grow up. When we are young, we are full of love for our parents, sisters and brothers and everyone at school or kindergarten. But at that time we don’t know what is good, that meaning we are not wise.

In the story “The fisherman and his soul”, the mermaid and the fisherman have a true love, but the priest is totally against their love, because he thinks that the fact that she isn’t a human is an impediment for their love.

Magda Petcu, S4B

A whole new set of essays – S4A

A whole new set of essays – S4A

Curg temele in perioada aceasta la Follow Me.

The world is changing day by day. It is harder to survive in a world like this with all the technology and the monsters that we make? Is the future made by us or by the computer?

Let’s start by talking a bit about technology. Is it good? Well, the answer is yes because it makes our lives easy … but if we are making robots so smart, why aren’t we scared of losing control of them? What if they are going to be smarter than us in the future? They will control us! But right now they are destroying the Earth just like cars, factories, computers and other things.

On the other hand, if we are making technology so smart, we will be able to make our lives easier. For example, we could have a lot of free time (because the computer is doing our work for us and we just relax).

Finally, our world is full of computers, smart phones and other things that make some things look easy but we must control all of this technology or it could do a lot of bad things.

Bravo, Georgiana!

Fifty years from now, life will be much easier and healtier for ordinary people than it is today.

These days the world is changing faster and faster than ever. Another problem is the number of people on Earth, which has already touched 7 billion. But it’s also the faster changing of science and the world that creates oportunities for regular people to become rich.

Maybe many people think that fast changing of the world creates problems. Some think that the population will increase faster than ever before in history and the planet won’t be able to support us and it will crash down.

On the other hand, there are a lot of reasons that the world will change in a good way. Science will advance and the doctors will be able to cure the diseases more effectively.

Finally, I believe that life will be better fifty years from now. Although there are many problems facing the world. I don’t think that the situation will get out of control. I believe science will advance quickly enough to find solutions.

There are few people in our days who could think of a world without their mobile phones.

It is a fact that mobile phones have a number of advantages, but let’s not forget about what scientists say about them – the fact that they can cause cancer and other things like that. And there are people that don’t know how to use their mobile phones on public transportation. Family members don’t even see eachother’s faces anymore.

However, mobile phones are great to keep in touch with friends from far far away. In fact, if you happen to have a car accident in the middle of an abandoned street or in the middle of the desert, you can call for help with it.

On balance, it seems that mobile phones have as many advantages as they do positive aspects. However, in more situations they are indispensable.

Felicitari, copii!
